Conrad N. Hilton Foundation Champions Research and Prophetic Mission of Catholic Sisters

At the heart of the Catholic Sisters Initiative is a deepening commitment to research-driven, faith-inspired solutions that transform the lives of Catholic sisters and the communities they serve. This message was powerfully delivered by Sr. Jane Wakahiu, Associate Vice President of Program Operations at the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, during the 4th Catholic Sisters Initiative Research Convening held at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa in Nairobi, Kenya.

OUR ACTIVITIES

TRAINING

Training of data collectors and researchers who will gather as well as collect relevant data from/for congregations.

RECEIVING PROPOSALS

Receiving and scrutinizing of proposals from any apostolate including religious men, women and church parishes.

WORKSHOPS

Conduct workshops on qualitative, quantitative and mixed-methods data collection on women religious and partners in Africa.

DIALOGUE

The provision of space for religious sisters to dialogue about thier ministries and publish on their experiences.

THOUGHT LEADERSHIP

Provide thought leadership on women religious in Africa while continuing to gather data, conduct research, and inspire the next generation of African researchers.

INNOVATIVE PLATFORM

Create an innovative platform to repose data and research related to Catholic Sisters in Africa through a partnership with CUEA and Tangaza University College.

DATABASE

The establishment and continuous updating of a demographic database for Religious Sisters to facilitate storage and easy retrieval of information.

TOOLS / PORTAL

Creating data gathering procedures and instruments for institutes. Establishment of a portal that shares what Religious Sisters have accomplished.
